Guidance Services
Counseling services at Lahore American School are diverse and cater to all three sections - elementary school, middle school, and high school. All students have access to social-emotional counseling.
Our Middle School has a dedicated counselor/school psychologist to support students' emotional, social, and academic growth. The counselor regularly checks in with students, offers one-on-one or group counseling, and ensures strict confidentiality. Students are welcome to visit the counseling office anytime for support or guidance.
The counselor also organizes weekly lunch sessions with student groups to build rapport, promote kindness, and address social-emotional topics through team-building and anti-bullying activities. They support new students through orientation programs, assist with academic transitions, and oversee the Middle School Tutoring Program for additional academic support.
By fostering collaboration between parents, teachers, and the counselor, we create a positive, inclusive environment tailored to each student’s needs. Parents are encouraged to meet with the counselor to discuss strategies, set goals, and support their child’s well-being and success.

In partnership with families and communities, schools play a critical role in supporting the social and emotional development of youth. This goes beyond teaching a set of skills by embedding social and emotional learning (SEL) into every aspect of daily school life. Students will participate in weekly lessons from RULER and will work with their classroom teachers to link this learning to the content.
RULER, an acronym for the five skills of emotional intelligence (recognizing, understanding, labeling, expressing, and regulating) is the evidence-based approach to social and emotional learning developed at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence (YCEI). More than 20 years of research shows that SEL helps students achieve more academically and make better decisions. Read some of the research here.
RULER is a systemic approach to SEL developed at the YCEI that supports school communities to understand the value of emotions, build the skills of emotional intelligence, and create and maintain positive emotional climates with RULER. Evaluation research shows that RULER fosters a range of behaviors and shifts in school climate that are essential to positive youth development, including:
Development of emotional skills
Fewer attention and learning problems
Greater social and leadership skills
Less anxiety and depression
Less stress and burnout
Better performance in school

The Academic and Service Coordinator supports students in reaching their academic goals by creating personalized plans, monitoring progress, and arranging additional resources like TLCs and extra sessions.
Beyond academics, the coordinator fosters responsibility and community awareness by organizing meaningful service opportunities, and helping students fulfill the 80-hour graduation requirement. By combining academic guidance with community engagement, the coordinator helps students develop into well-rounded, empathetic individuals prepared for future challenges.
